Horse Mackerel

CD Tenerife are nicknamed "Chicharreros". The name comes from chicharros (horse mackerel), a small, cheap fish that poor families in Santa Cruz de Tenerife used to eat.

• South Pier Fishing Station: The old fishing station at the end of the South Pier. Mackerel shoals pass here.

Size on the island: 15–35 cm.
