Step Out of the Blocked Lane
Move so the defender is no longer between you and the ball.
What the coach says
- The defender stands between the passer and the left teammate.
- The left teammate can change the angle instead of waiting behind the defender.
- Step diagonally away from the blocked lane. Show the passer where you are.
- The pass reaches you through the new angle.
- Return the ball while the lane is still clear.
- The defender shifts across to cover the left pass. Check the other teammate.
- One option is covered, but the right teammate can still help.
- Pass right, then make a useful return angle.
