3-3-2: Add an Attacker, Rebuild the Three
A wide midfielder joins two strikers while the other midfielders support, then rebuilds the midfield three after loss.
What the coach says
- In three-three-two, our front pair can face three defenders.
- One wide midfielder can join the pair while the other two stay connected behind.
- The left midfielder has room beside the two strikers. The central and right midfielders can preserve the connection behind.
- Which midfielder can add a third attacker while the other two keep the midfield connection?
- The left midfielder advances beside the front pair. The central and far midfielders stay connected behind while the back three move up.
- The joining midfielder connects with the striker while the other two midfielders remain behind the attack.
- Blue intercepts the return from the striker. The joining midfielder is now ahead of the ball while the other two midfielders protect behind.
- After this loss, which recovery rebuilds the midfield three?
- The joining midfielder recovers. The other two midfielders and back three adjust goal-side as the keeper tracks the new attack.
- The left midfielder has recovered beside the central and right midfielders. The back three stays behind that rebuilt unit as Blue begins the next attack.
- A midfield three can lend one player to the front pair. After loss, that player recovers to rebuild the three rather than leaving two midfielders to do every job.
