3-2-3: Two Midfielders Face Three
A wide forward helps the midfield pair against three opponents while the outside back supplies the vacated width.
What the coach says
- Our three-two-three has two central midfielders.
- Blue uses three-three-two, with these three opponents in midfield.
- The near winger can help the pair inside. The outside back is available to keep width behind that move.
- Blue has three midfielders and we have two. Where can our left winger help?
- The near winger joins inside. The outside back stays wide and the far winger keeps the front line stretched.
- The inside winger connects with the midfield pair instead of asking two players to cover three receiving jobs.
- The attack moves right. The left winger restores width while the right side faces the midfield three.
- With the left winger wide again, which right-wing position restores a third midfield option?
- The right winger helps inside as the right back supplies width and the left winger remains a forward outlet.
- The right winger becomes the extra midfield connection. The right back stays outside, and the left winger remains ahead on the far side.
- Against three midfielders, one winger can help our pair. Keep the outside back wide and the other forward available; do not bring every forward inside.
