4-0: Share the Space

Without a fixed pivot, players share forward runs and replace useful support.

What the coach says

  1. Four outfield players share support. Nobody is a fixed pivot.
  2. Pass left. A teammate clears space with a forward run.
  3. What can the fixo do with the middle space now?
  4. Move into that angle while the far wing provides balance.
  5. Use the new support in the middle.
  6. The left wing now occupies the next forward lane.
  7. A teammate already occupies the forward lane. What helps now?
  8. Use the support that is already available.

  1. Question 1

    What can the fixo do with the middle space now?

    • Advance into the front lane
    • Move into the middle angle

    Coach’s explanation: The middle angle is available. Moving there offers a new option without crowding a teammate.

  2. Question 2

    A teammate already occupies the forward lane. What helps now?

    • Carry into the front lane
    • Pass across to the right ala

    Coach’s explanation: The right wing maintains a useful supporting angle. No fixed pivot does not mean everybody must run forward.

  3. Question 3

    A teammate ran forward and cleared the middle. Tap the space the fixo moves into.

    • Stay deep near our goal
    • The front lane beside the runner
    • The middle space the runner left

    Coach’s explanation: The fixo steps into the middle angle, so the left ala has new support.

  4. Question 4

    In 4-0, players share the space. Put these steps in order.

    • A teammate runs forward, clearing space
    • Fixo steps into the middle angle
    • Pass into the fixo's new support
    • Pass out to the left ala

    Coach’s explanation: The pass goes wide, a run clears space, the fixo fills it, then we use it.

  5. Question 5

    The right ala has the ball, and a teammate ran forward. Where does the fixo go?

    • Into the middle angle near the ball
    • Out wide beside the right ala
    • Up into the front lane too

    Coach’s explanation: The runner left the middle empty, so the fixo fills it and gives the ball a new angle.
