Keeper at Feet: Create the Spare Player

Use a goalkeeper’s fresh possession to draw a presser and release an outfield teammate.

What the coach says

  1. Blue has just played the ball to your goalkeeper, who controls it at their feet. This fresh possession allows the keeper to help create an extra passing option.
  2. The keeper moves right with the ball. Blue’s first presser follows, opening the opposite side for the fixo. Release within the four-second limit in your own half.
  3. The first presser has followed you. Which action uses the spare outfield player?
  4. The keeper releases and drops towards goal. The receiver now needs an outfield continuation; the keeper cannot simply be used again in this own-half possession.
  5. The wide defender steps inside to block a pass towards the pivot. The left ala keeps an outside lane for the next connection.
  6. The keeper has already released the ball in this possession. Which next pass keeps the move legal and connected?
  7. The fixo finds the ala. The keeper continues recovering towards goal, the pivot moves to support the next pass, and Blue shifts towards the new side.
