Defend a Corner: Share the Jobs
Respond to a short corner without abandoning the central and far-side threats.
What the coach says
- Before a corner, share responsibility for the short receiver, central space and far side. Watch the first pass without sending everyone towards it.
- Blue offers a short option away from the goal line. The left ala can approach it while the fixo and right ala protect the goalmouth.
- Blue is set to play the short corner. Where should you prepare to engage?
- Our left ala meets the short pass with controlled pressure. Our fixo and right ala keep their central jobs instead of following the ball outside.
- The corner taker runs along the goal line after passing. The far attacker stays across goal, so the central defender must cover the new near-side run.
- The taker runs behind the short pass. Which movement protects that danger?
- The fixo covers the near-side runner, the right ala keeps the far side, and the front player denies an easy central return.

Question 5
Now the corner comes from the right. Drag the FIXO to stop the taker's run.
Coach’s explanation: The fixo tracks the near-side run, so the taker can't get a free shot.
