Sprats are small, silvery and always in a hurry, like ball kids at a big match. The city of Kiel is so famous for them that its smoked sprats are named after it, and its club, Holstein Kiel, reached the Bundesliga in 2024. This one is glad to be fresh, not smoked.
On Futbol Island the sprat can be caught at:
- East Jetty Spiral: The outer curve of the spiral at the end of the East Jetty, out past the farmers market. Deeper water than the shore, so a tuna or an octopus sometimes swims by.
Size on the island: 8–15 cm.
