Fish tale

A spotted ratfish has big, shiny green eyes, a face a bit like a rabbit and a long, thin tail. It is a cousin of sharks, but it grinds up shellfish with flat tooth plates. The Vancouver Whitecaps, from the same cold coast, once won North America's league.

Island story

On Futbol Island the spotted ratfish can be caught at:

  • Deep Sea Boat: A little fishing boat moored far out in the deep blue bay, north of the East Jetty. Squid, marlin and stranger things swim far below.
  • Summit Deep Boat: A second little fishing boat, moored in the deep channel west of Summit Isle. Green, deep water where tuna, sailfish and marlin hunt the bait balls.

Size on the island: 40–97 cm.
