Fun fish fact: the lingcod is neither a ling nor a cod, and it is most common near British Columbia and Washington. Football: in 2022 the Seattle Sounders became the first MLS team to win the CONCACAF Champions League.

A lingcod is not a ling and not a cod, so its name is a bit of a dummy, like a fake shot. Some lingcod are even blue-green inside. The dad guards the eggs on the rocks, like a keeper who never leaves his line.

On Futbol Island the lingcod can be caught at:

• Drop-off Ledge: A rocky ledge on Summit Isle’s south-east shore, where the sand stops and the sea drops away into deep blue. Cod and haddock nose along the edge, and now and then a little shark patrols it.

Size on the island: 50–150 cm.
