Fish tale

A humphead wrasse is a huge, friendly green fish with a big bump on its forehead, like a player who heads every ball. It lives on the Great Barrier Reef near Townsville, which once had its own A-League team. Give it a wave and let it swim back to the reef.

Island story

On Futbol Island the humphead wrasse can be caught at:

  • Coral Garden Beach: The quiet north-west beach of Coral Cay. Coral grows just offshore, so octopuses and little sharks come hunting.

Size on the island: 60–200 cm.
