Fun fish fact: the garfish has long, toothy jaws and green bones, and it is a very popular food in Denmark. Football: Denmark won Euro 1992 after being invited in to replace Yugoslavia, beating Germany 2-0 in the final.

A garfish has a long, thin beak like a needle, and its bones are bright green. When it is hooked it leaps out of the water like a striker jumping for a header. Denmark, where garfish are a favourite, once won the Euros after being invited in to replace another team.

On Futbol Island the garfish can be caught at:

• Lookout Rocks: Four boulders set out like stepping stones along a straight stretch of beach, in sight of the island’s old lookout. Shoals of silvery fish pass close to shore here.
