A sole is a flatfish: it lies on its side on the sand, and both its eyes are on the top. It got its name from the port of Dover, home of Dover Athletic. This one is lying so flat it could be mistaken for a pitch marking.
On Futbol Island the dover sole can be caught at:
- Lifebuoy Point: Beside the red lifebuoy on the western boardwalk. Shrimp love the warm shallows.
Size on the island: 25–50 cm.
